Pansies are a classic cool weather flower, used in most places as an annual. In some warmer and moderate climates, like parts of California, gardeners can grow them year round. In areas where the climate is more extreme with the seasons, it is more typical to grow them during the cooler parts of the year. These flowers generally do not want to bloom in the heat.
Early fall of last year, I planted a variety of pansies in a few pots. The pansies had the most beautiful blooms up to mid winter. At that point, they began to droop and looked as if they were dead. I was so excited to see spring arrive, the bright yellow, orange and purple blooms were back, they bounced back and began to rise up and blossom. Perfect temperatures between 60-70 degrees are great for pansies to thrive in. But, all of a sudden we had a tease of summer and for about a week, we experienced summer-like weather where the temperatures actually got up in the 80’s! Do you know what happened? They started to droop again.
As the temperatures started to cool off, the pansies began to blossom again. As you can see on the photos, they are standing tall and blooming in this season. They will bloom well until the heat of summer, at which time the plants will wilt and droop and stop producing flowers.
We all go through stages in life. We all blossom at different times. Just like the pansies, they thrive in the spring and fall seasons.
There are times when we have our best seasons and yet there are those seasons when it looks like it’s over. And then there’s our But God Season, when all of a sudden we bounce back, rise up and begin to blossom again!
During this season, stay grounded in your faith!
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. ~ Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
No need to worry. No need to compare. No need to envy. No need to give up.
Your Best Season Is Coming!
